Death is ok

This morning during my asana practice, I experienced the liberating feeling that it would be ok to die, that the line between my being and my non being was so blurred to be quite non-existent. This death-as-liberation feeling was so overpowering and wonderful, people outside of yogic experience may hear this as crazy-talk by a desperate or psychotic person. But my experience was at my most tranquil and balanced states of mind and body.
The other day I was having a conversation with one of my poetry buddies. We were talking about how the other dimension is always there right before our eyes, right beside us, and in the act of writing poetry we often enter this other dimension.
So in yoga...the other is always present.
I can simply disappear into it as vapor.
Transform into a dew drop on a god's eyelash.

  1. That is expressed so beautifully and poetically,Pramila. I've been reading some of the inspiring works of Dr. Wayne Dyer, who shares your thoughts on infinity and death, particularly," The Power of Intention". He invites us to awaken to that infinite essence that is present within all of us and not to wait to meet it only at the moment of death . That by looking at, meditating and practicing the 7 faces of intention (creativity, kindness, love, beauty, expansion, unlimited abundance and receptivity) that is provided to us through our friendly universe we can come close to experiencing what you so eloquently describe.

  2. How ironic that last Friday (and I don't know if we both posted our thoughts at the same time Pramila!) I was thinking about a theme for my yoga workshops and classes for the following week. As I did my self practice and study, and came upon that feeling of expansion where you feel there is no division between the space where your body ends and the space around you begins, as your body melts into relaxed awareness.... there was set the idea of talking about expansion, space, the etherical aspects of our yoga practice, and how we create space in ourselves both mentally and physically through yoga. This week in my classes I have connected the element ether into my teachings. We opened and connected to our throat chakra, did heaven mudra and opened our minds, bodies, and consciousness!
And Katie, I have not read about the 7 faces of intention- but agree that those are the some of the things that we should invite into ourselves, and "expand" into every day!

  3. I envy yogis and those who've practiced yoga for a long time and consistently. You all share a common thread of introspection and tranquility. I hope to achieve that one day, not to mention, increased flexibility. As a former daily runner, flexibility was not something I possessed. Aside, from the wonderful feeling of stretching the tightness out of my body, the breathing and concentration do wonders for my mind. I hope to improve as I continue in this journey.
